  1. My dad was just telling me how his dad owned 2 cotton gins in nearby areas. At one people with wagons of cotton waited at the church across the road until their turn. The gin ran on into the night. Farmers left with their cotton; the weight of half of what they had come in with. Most of the time payment for ginning the cotton was the seeds from the cotton itself.
