Alabama Pioneers is a labor of love for us and we have been devoted to discovering and sharing the footprints left behind by our ancestors through photographs, films, stories, and biographies on this website. We have chronicled Alabama history and shared forgotten stories about Alabama for over 10 years and now with the support of our Patrons and donations,  we are working to bring more stories in exciting new formats such as our website alabamapioneers.com, over 130 books, and our most recent Podcast, “The Alabama Grist Mill”.

In addition to having access to all the stories on Alabama Pioneers,  our Patron members receive extra rewards and benefits for their support – dependent on their level of membership

  18. I had a paper route when I was 12 for the Opelika Daily News. The paper was 5 cents a day, 27 cents a week, or 81 cents a month. I made about $5.00 per week, pretty good money in 1962.
