  7. There was a column in the montgomery paper called TimesGone By. Years ago They printed an item that was then 50 years old that said that Ben Gilmer was voted best dressed at Lanier High. He had become president of South Central Bell and I sent it to him. He wrote me a note saying that the reason he was best dressed was that his mother made his shirts. He had two while everyone else had only one.

  8. Their exit exam would be like a foreign language to today’s students. I’d fail it too.
