We found this great video Peggy Wade made from her father’s home movies from 50 years ago of great scenes from Walker County, Alabama on You Tube.   1. I enjoyed seeing the Clear Creek falls before Smith Lake covered them and the making of Sorghum Molasses… Everyone needs to show their grandchildren how things used to be done… Thanks for sharing.

  2. My mother’s family was from Walker County. Some of the family names include Crump, Posey, Dailey and Brakefield.

  4. I’m from the Pleasantfield area just below Parrish. Remember the syrup making process very well during late 1940’s to early 1950’s. A lot of good memories that my Grandchildren will never get to experience. Thanks for the post.

    1. as a child we got to go watch them make the syrup.

  5. My Dad would’ve loved to have seen the video of Clear Creek Falls, he grew up playing on those falls,(R.I.P. Fletcher Meeks 1926-2010). The Meeks family homesteaded near Falls city in 1907.
