Perry County, Alabama

Isaac Oakes was a Revolutionary War Soldier born May 13, 1760 in Louisa, Virginia. He served several tours in the War. He left Virginia and moved first to Oglethorpe County, Georgia where he lived for 30 years. In 1827, He and his family moved to Perry County, Alabama. He was living with son-in-law, Willis Osborn in Perry County, Alabama when he received pension.

Perry County, Alabama

Thomas Oakes was the son of Isaac Oakes. He was born April 10, 1783 in Albermarle County, Virginia and died October 27, 1857. He married Nancy Watters on December 31, 1808 in Lexington, Oglethorpe County, Georgia.

Nancy was the daughter of Joseph James Watters and Sarah Collins. Nancy died about 1815 and Thomas married Hannah Martin of February 22, 1816 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Thomas and Hannah moved with many of his family to Perry County, Alabama after their marriage.
