PATRON + “I remember sittin’ on the front porch in the dark with my Daddy on an Alabama summer eve”

My maternal great grandmother was convinced that her three year old daughter died because a screech owl flew in the open window and lit at the foot of the child’s bed. The child was sick already, but died the next day. My great grandmother was always very suspicious about everything, and actually pretty much lost her mind before she died from worry that her youngest son would be called into WWI. He wasn’t, but the story is that she died from worry about the fact he MIGHT be. Very sad!
