DR. HOWARD R. WILLIAMS

BIOGRAPHY and GENEALOGY

(1867-aft. 1904)

Chambers County, Alabama

Dr. Howard R. Williams was born in Meriwether county, Ga., in 1867. He was the son of Captain John H. Williams and Mattie R. Williams. He received his education in the public schools. He went to Lowell, Mass., in 1887 to prepare himself for engineering, but the next year abandoned this course, returned to Georgia and studied dentistry, graduating in 1890.

He located in Greenville, Georgia, and emigrated from there to Columbus, where he practiced until 1899, when he removed to LaFayette, Alabama. Here he resided and became a leading citizen. He took an active part in local politics and at one time held a responsible position in Chambers community.
