James Crawford, son of George Crawford was born March 10, 1789 in South Carolina. He married Nancy McCarter, the daughter of James and Nancy Davy McCarter. Nancy (1793-1872) was the daughter of James and Nancy Davy McCarter. James and Nancy left South Carolina sometime after their son James L. Crawford was born in 1813. They resided in Georgia in 1819 where their daughter Catherine Ann was born but by 1821 they had settled in Perry County, Alabama. James and Nancy had fourteen known children.

  7. Anyone have proof that George Crawford was the father of James? Naming is first son, you would think that his father was named George or James, but the George that died in 1827 in Abbeville is not his father, so I can’t seem to find the right George.
