  1. Donna, you certainly publish wonderful stories on our Alabama ancestors! I enjoyed this one immensely! Keep up the good work.

  2. I have just purchased this biography, now that Vol. 1 or your series is now in paperback. The people mentioned are all my ancestors. Isaac Newton Langston was my gggggrandfather.
You mentioned John Ellis Sumner – he married Nancy, the daughter of I N Langston.
Their son was Dr, William Clark Sumner, who was killed in the Civil War. His widow was Jerusha Holman Sumner, who married Dorrington Langston.
I have seen data listing the children of I N Langston, many of which do not include Nancy. Do you have any proof of this relationship?
i, also, have found no parents for john Ellis Sumner, nor have i found conclusively the parents of Sarah Patton, wife of I N Langston.
Have you had your DNA analized by Ancestry? Or, I should ask is these are your ancestors? i do have a match for the Hallman line.
Hope to hear from you – Sylvia Sumner Thorp

  3. Hello, again. I have read the information about the Langstons in your newly published Biographies of Notable—–vol I.
It is so important to me that we get these relationships correct. On page 117, you refer to Rev. J. E. Sumners as Doranton Patton Langston’s cousin. Would he not be the brother-in-law??
If Nancy Langston (wife of John Ellis Sumners) and Doranton Langston were siblings, wouldn’t John Ellis Sumners be the brother-in-law of Doranton?
PLEASE contact me. Many Thanks – Sylvia Sumner Thorp
