Patron+ RECIPE WEDNESDAY: Meat-substitute loaf from the 1920s

Sometimes our grandmother’s cooked main dishes without meat – like this meat substitute loaf

Meat-Substitute Loaf

  • 1 cupful of cooked salted rice
  • 1 cupful of crushed peanuts
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cupful of cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of chopped onion cooked until soft in ½ cupful of water
  • 1 tablespoonful of fat
  • ¼ teaspoonful of pepper
  • 1 teaspoonful of salt-

Make into a loaf and bake. Serve hot with tomato sauce.
